February 14, 2009 - Likes it - After a couple of below par meals we opted to avoid this place, however after hearing rumours of a new chef we decided to give the place another try and were pleasantly surprised. service was good and we kept it simple and opted for Pizza with a caprese salad to start, both were served in good time and were a vast improvement. Looking around the food looked good and people were happily tucking in. A good turn around and puts Pomodoro back on my radar.

"good find" by V (5 reviews)
February 11, 2009 - Likes it - We stumbled on this place on Friday night after we had driven around and couldn't decide where to go. It turned out to be a great little find. The food is pretty basic no frills italian. It was perfect for a casual couple's night out with no hassle, tasty food and a decent glass of wine. Service was very old-school and friendly. I had the veal parm and it was way more food than i needed. Don't expect glitz or glamour - It is an intimate, homey little space. But i say we need more places like this around town.

"great neighborhood Italian restaurant - new chef" by christina (1 review)
January 11, 2009 - Likes it - Pomodoro's chef changed a few weeks ago and their food has really improved. We noticed the change right away when they served wonderful new toasted herb bread. We have started going at least once a week since then. I always get the fettucini alfredo and my husband usually gets the daily pasta special. Last week, they had an incredible baked clam appetizer special that we loved. The soups are also very nice - tonight it was a delicious lentil and it was perfect for the cold weather. I am usually too full for dessert, but I have had the chocolate mousse cake. It was fine, but I am not a fan of chocolate with fruit and it had  raspberry sauce. We also have had their pizza for take-out. It's great if you like thin-crust. The waiter and the chef are really attentive and friendly. They remember us each time and give a warm greeting. They really add to the cozy family style restaurant that we have been searching for. The price is usually around $40 total for the two of us (2 sodas, 2 entrees, 1 appetizer, 1 dessert).

Last Friday evening, we landed at Pomodoro after giving up on standing in line at a number of other places. We were a group of 4 eating more like 2.5 people with a one bottle of wine. I'll get right to it:
The Caesar salad was dressed well, with a nice tang, not nauseatingly drenched in cream. The personal pizza was fresh, hot and delicious. The stuffed pasta (started with a T, stuffed with ricotta and spinach) was light, but filling. The dough had a lovely chew, was flavorful and didn't fall apart when cut in half, though not quite al dente. Perfect for any shell pasta IMNSHO. Finally, the ravioli also passed muster. It had meat so I couldn't taste it but our fourth, a grumpy critic by nature, was pleased enough so it must have been pretty good.
We finished off our meal with fresh coffee and 2 desserts made on site. Tiramisu and Chocolate Torte. The torte would have received very good reviews had we ordered it alone but it suffered in comparison to the Tiramisu. The Tiramisu was light, fluffy, not too sweet, not bitter but had a lemony tang that sent all four us into varying degrees of ecstasy.
The servers were warm and kind as was the resto on that cold night and the bill was NOT a $$$$ bill. More like a $$ bill.
Enjoy.
